Presenting Complaint

  • Weight-bearing lame on right hind leg for 7-10 days

History

  • Captive born on 08/14/96
  • History of renal calculi since 1999
  • Ankylosis of distal caudal vertebrae noted on annual exam in January, 2006

Physical Examination

  • Performed under general anesthesia
  • Heart rate: 200 beats per minute
  • Respiratory rate: 16 breaths per minute
  • Weight: 3.56 kg
  • Dental calculus
  • Muscle atrophy and crepitus of right rear limb
  • Sensitivity on flexion of right tarsus

Plan

  • CBC: lymphopenia; rare polychromasia and moderate crenation of red blood cells
  • Serum Biochemistry: hyperphosphatemia, hyperkalemia, mildly increased ALP and CK
  • Urinalysis: trace ketones
  • Radiographs of hind limbs/pelvis
