Further Diagnostics and Outcome

Cytology

  • Aspirates of the enlarged inguinal lymph node and the mammary massed were submitted for evaluation. The aspirate of the inguinal lymph node was nondiagnostic but did display one small cluster of cells which suggested carcinoma.

    Aspirate of the mammary mass was consistent with neoplasia. The cytologic features of malignancy were mild. Histopathologic examination was recommended.

Outcome

  • Due to the extensive disease and poor prognosis, the owner elected no treatment. The pet was taken to her referring veterinarian for euthanasia.
