Case Follow-Up
Treatment
An exploratory laparotomy was performed. A linear foreign body was found along the entire length of the duodenum and jejunum with an anchor in the pylorus. A gastrotomy was performed at the pylorus. The proximal end of the foreign body was transected at this site and removed. The remainder of the foreign body was milked to a central area of a damaged section of the jejunum. The damaged portion of the bowel was resected and the foreign body removed. The remaining bowel ends were anastamosed. Abdominal closure was routine, and recovery was uneventful. The foreign body was determined to be a piece of towel.
Outcome
The patient recovered normally and is now back to being a normal puppy.
